Craig
Met up with Craig last week for a coffee and we talked through a few ideas. I found him very eloquent and happy to be a part of my project. My concern is finding a balance between how I want him to be presented and what I want to show and how he wants to be presented. I moved away from the show reel idea as I talked to him as I realised I wanted to do something a bit different, perhaps more personal about him rather than just showing his work. I decided I really didn’t want to make a promotional video rather I want to attempt a kind of experimental documentary about Craig’s design ethos and ideas. How I’m going to do this is the question and the challenge… We left it with a lot of ideas open. He asked if I was just going to show him talking or if I was going to narrate or intervene somehow. I then looked at Werner Herzog’s documentary style for ideas on narration and interpretation of people.
